The Vision of World of Life International Ministries is:
“AFFECTING THE COMMUNITY FOR CHRIST IN EVERY SPHERE; SPIRITUALLY, POLITICALLY, ECONOMICALLY, CULTURALLY AND SOCIALLY”
What Is Vision
The word Vision applies to;
- The natural ability to see using our eyes.
- Perception or ability to discern things that are of importance before they become a reality.
- The depiction of a desired future.
- The strategic goal in the future used in guiding the purpose, focus and activities of an organisation.
- The purpose for the existence of an organisation.
The Vision of Word Of Life International Ministries therefore is there to enable people to see, perceive and focus on a desired future where the community is affected for Christ in all spheres of life. This Vision as a strategic goal guides Word of Life as a Church to remain focused on our purpose, priorities and those activities that will make the vision a reality.
Vision as the bodily function to see is very important to daily living. Sight plays a very significant role in our daily lives. Sight or vision helps us to ;
Locate our position in our surroundings.
To gather information about our surroundings and our world.
To inform our decisions and our judgements.
To navigate our way around our environment.
The restoration of sight or vision and the ability to see is a key theme right through the Bible
Where there is no vision, the people perish
We will now break down this vision so that we can understand exactly what it may require us to do in order to make it a reality.
The vision requires for us to “Affect the community”, but what is to affect?
To affect is to;
Cause to change
Cause to respond
The Vision of Word of Life International Ministries, therefore calls upon every member and minister to be an agent of Influence, Change, Response or Impact in their community.
Influence is an imperceptible effect on something or someone. Influence is the result of persuasive ideas , communication, networks, pervasive presence, strength in numbers, reputation and success.
Change / Transformation
Things can be changed or transformed through force or things can be changed or transformed through influence. Clearly for us as Christians, physical force is out of the question “For it’s not by might nor by power, but by the Spirit of the Living God”.
Change or transformation means that the previous or existing order of things is replaced by a new state or way of doing things.
God never calls us to make our world and its people a good place for good people but to bring change or transformation.
The theme change or transformation is at the core of the Gospel of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Whilst influence is of the external without force, it can produce very powerful and sometimes destructive effects on the world. Examples abound of people who were influenced by ideas, philosophies, books and religions and they acted on the influence and their actions have a very powerful impact on the world.
The Bible uses this power or influence in the metaphor of salt and light. When salt is in a meal or food it cannot be detected by sight, but its presence or absence influences the taste of the food. Light is not forceful, but powerful. Darkness is always dispelled by light, but no amount of darkness has ever extinguished the light.
John 1 : 1 – 12
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made through him. Without him was not anything made that has been made.
In him was life, and the life was the light of men.
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness hasn't overcome it.
The Vision of Word of Life International Ministries therefore does not merely want to influence our communities in a subtle and intangible way, but seeks to cause measurable and tangible results or fruits of influence to be evident.
Mat 7:19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire
Luk 6:44 For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.
This can be measured by a change or transformation in the following areas;
Actions taken for godliness, goodness and well-being.
Change of community, institution or sector values, views, policies and action
Transformation of community and institutional systems and operations.
The Bible talks about those that have turned the World upside down:
Acts 17 : 6 - When they didn't find them, they dragged Jason and certain brothers before the rulers of the city, crying, "These who have turned the world upside down have come here also,
God’s primary purpose is the transformation of this world.
